25 Agricultural Engineers Received Prickly Fig Cultivation Certificate!

The prickly fig cultivation training with the participation of 25 agricultural engineers has been completed in Mersin under the scope of the Rural Development with Local Products Project. During the one-week training, Italian trainers gave lectures on how to scientifically cultivate the prickly fig which grows in its natural environment but could not receive the desired economic value.

Information and experience sharing on marketing, export potential and advantages for the producers as a result of the planned production as well as with which methods this fruit can be cultivated is done. The participants had the opportunity to acquire new information on the use of prickly fig in chemical industry and its marketing as flour. New dialogue bridges are established with the Palermo University and Green Farm civil society organization from Italy which is specialized in rural development and marketing.

Agricultural engineers from Silifke, Erdemli, Tarsus, Anamur, Aydıncık, Bozyazı, Çamlıyayla District Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock and Regional Directorate of Forestry project departments participated in the training held in Alata Horticultural Research Institute. The engineers who were certified at the end of the training will inform the producers in the region.
