“Child Rights are Rising” Project Created Awareness in Mardin

“Child Rights are Rising” Project which is implemented by Mardin Tarih Kültür Eğitim ve Sanat Derneği ended on January 14, 2016 following two workshops on 12 and 13 January 2014.

The workshops conducted under the scope of the project which aimed to create awareness in children’s rights in society hosted several presentations and discussions on topics like “Youth and Childhood Profile in Turkey”, “Youth and Childhood Problems”, “Children’s Rights and Social Environment”, “The Effect of Social Environment on Children” as well as a workshop titled “Social Contract Rules for Children”. The workshops had many participants from different professional and age groups.

The closing ceremony following the workshops started with the presentation titled “Childhood and Value Attributed to Childhood” and continued with the opening remarks of the project’s coordinator Zeynep Davutoğlu Gelmedi in which the project outcomes are summarized. She told that almost 500 people were contacted during the project and this was beyond their expectations. She stated that that was very important in terms of raising awareness and they would continue working for the sustainability of the project.
