“Empowering Vulnerable Children Through Human Rights & Film” Project is Meeting with Refugee Children in Hatay!

“Empowering Vulnerable Children Through Human Rights & Film” Project is coming together with the Syrian Refugee Children in Hatay. The project is conducted by Başak Kültür ve Sanat Vakfı in collaboration with Van Bar and DW-RS Producties from Holland.

Human rights and film workshops are organized for the refugee and local children who live in the Support to Life Agency’s Society Center located in Hatay, Narlica.

Within the framework of project’s Hatay section, workshops are conducted for children aged 14-18 by the actor-director Derya Durmaz ve the American director-academician Theron Patterson.

During this activity, basic training is given to children who will create awareness in human rights-related subjects, followed by a film workshop in which they write their own scripts and shoot 2-minute films of these.

A similar study was organized in the past weeks within Bitlis Municipality Cultural Affairs Directorate.

Civil Society Organizations and Governmental Organizations came together. At the end of the meeting, it was decided to develop various projects addressing disabled and drug addicted children by strengthening the inter-organizational collaboration.

Besides Bitlis, human rights and film workshops have been conducted for vulnerable children in Van, Soma, Batman, Amsterdam and Dersim as well within the scope of the “Empowering Vulnerable Children Through Human Rights & Film” Project which is planned to be completed in 14 months.

The next stops of the project will be Ordu and Denizli.
