Experiential Learning project is being completed by making an important contribution to the education system in Turkey. The project introduced an active learning approach through which students learned in an enjoyable way through games, role-play, simulations, and they were active participants instead of being passive listeners.

The project implemented by the Association of Experiential Training Center in collaboration with Rouge Youth Club from Estonia, Ergon Training from Greece and Gaziantep Training and Youth Association and Eskişehir Association for Youth Rights from Turkey, also hosted the “Experiential Learning Summit” which was organised in Turkey for the first time. Nearly 140 participants attended the summit in which Prof. David KOLB, the founder of this learning approach in the world, made his contribution by connecting through a teleconference. The participants had the opportunity ask questions to Prof. KOLB in an interactive way.

Within the scope of the project which was designed to localise and expand the experiential learning methodology in Turkey, 15 formal education teachers and 15 civil society workers from 10 different cities of Turkey were trained as trainers of training. Civil society professionals worked with of 148 youngsters from different backgrounds ranging from Syrian child refugees to university students, prison volunteers and disadvantaged young people.

Teachers had the opportunity of working with 353 primary and high school students through the local training events and dialogue meetings organised at schools. They started teaching their subject-matter courses in their classes in an unusually interactive way. The students learned courses like even physics and mathematics through games. As a result of these activities, 501 children and youngsters were reached. Apart from this, while direct access to nearly 100 different learning tools was provided through the website, the resources translated into Turkish were also shared.
